JOB DESCRIPTION Work with Alpine IntelliVIEW software and pdf/hard copy plans to design & implement structurally sound roof & floor trusses for commerical, custom homes, additions, and more.
DUTIES:
1.
Service current clients by responding to truss needs and concerns regarding truss quality.
Visit clients work sites as needed to deliver bids, takeoffs, or to encourage further business dealings with the company.
2.
Perform accurate and professional component designs using customer blueprints.
Review cutting lists, production reports, and delivery schedules to ensure the quality of the final product and timely deliveries to customers.
3.
Create accurate bids, and material and price lists for clients in a timely manner.
4.
At the client's request, provide engineered truss drawings to the client in a timely manner.
5.
Provide technical knowledge and assistance to Layout Persons and Cutters in the designing of components and component layouts.
6.
Provide technical support to internal and external clients including Copperstate Truss sales associates, contractors, and the general public.
7.
Attend and participate in all Company-sponsored training programs as required.
8.
Perform any other duties, responsibilities or tasks as assigned.
9.
Perform field measurements as needed.
Must track mileage via log spreadsheet for reimbursement.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (B.
A.
) from four-year college or university; and four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Must have the ability to understand the English language in both the written and verbal form and to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures, maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, work orders, takeoffs, and engineered drawings.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as board footage, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to problem solve various scenarios regarding truss design & implement a possible solution via engineered repair.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Our truss designers are assigned their own desk & computer.
There are times when the designer is asked to complete an on-site field measure.
Must be able to comply with job site safety & precautions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Professional level sales knowledge of building component design and manufacturing is required.
The ability to use computers is required.
Prior experience using truss planning software is required.
